In the workshop, we transformed everyday (bio)plastic bags into luminous lanterns, inspired by 17th-century magic lanterns that projected supernatural stories. Rather than introducing new resources, we focused on adaptive reuse, highlighting the potential of synthetic polymers to be shaped into communicative forms.

We worked through cutting, layering, melting, and warped transformations. Through this process, we examined how simple interventions could shift the idea of what was waste, what was ‘broken’, and what could not be fixed. The resulting lanterns were seen as both experimental prototypes and artefacts for the beginning of autumn.
